I'm not too sure about representing the whole entire place on just this instrument alone, but I really do like the style and the type treatment.
I agree with Sean that the typeface choice works nicely along with the stamp look. So why a tambourine? To me, it looks like a dog collar. Is this your intent? Just thought I asked. :)
Tambourine? Try a cowbell. "I got a fever and the only cure is more cowbell." I really like your phoenix idea though.
